Teachers’ Guide

This page will contain a range of downloadable resources for teachers. These resources will support the website learning activities, where students will:

  • Explore the arguments and join the debate for or against conscription during the First World War
  • Learn about how to deconstruct historic political cartoons.
  • Use persuasive images and text to make a poster for or against conscription
  • Analyse the motivations of Billy Hughes at the Peace Treaty negotiations and investigate outcomes of the Peace Treaty through primary document study
  • Develop historical skills in using and evaluating historical sources

This is a past exhibition that was shown at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House during 2008. A travelling version is on show at the Museum and regional centres during 2009.

More information is available on the exhibitions page.
